West Caldwell is especially proud of its Recreation Program which is considered one of the finest and most comprehensive in New Jersey! Programs and activities are administered by the West Caldwell Parks and Recreation Department, located at 5 Fairfield Avenue, across from the Fire Department. All programs, activities, and park facilities are available for enjoyment by both West Caldwell and Caldwell residents. A large number of programs are offered to children of all ages as well as adults.
 

The facilities accessible through the Recreation Department include 9 parks, 7 schools, and the West Caldwell Civic Center. Included in the recreation areas are baseball and softball fields, playgrounds, tennis and platform tennis courts, horseshoe, pits, soccer fields, ice skating rink and many others. The two municipal pools are operated by the West Caldwell Pool Utility. Certain seasonal recreation activities are run at these sites through the courtesy of the Pool Utility. (For further information, see Pool Utility.)

To a large degree, programs are offered at no cost to participants. In some cases, a nominal registration fee is charged to help offset the cost of supplies. Specialized events, such as out-of-town field trips, are totally self-sustaining. Many local businesspersons have generously contributed by sponsoring certain activities with civic and athletic organizations. The tennis courts are operated at a very minimal hourly rate during the peak seasons.
